Personal

I am 25 years old. I was born and grew up in Southern Maryland until 2010, when my family and I moved to a small beach town in the Northern Neck of Virginia. I am currently working a part-time job at my local library as well as going for my Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Marketing, completely online through Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Between my job and completing assignments on my laptop, I am taking care of and throwing stuffed toys for Crickett, my fur baby. I also love to read, sketch, design, create and take long drives. I am also recently engaged to my beautiful fiancée as we both navigate the tides of college. I am excellent at organization and  multitasking, which goes well with working in a library and in essentially any customer service atmosphere.

Professional Experience

Upon completing my Associate's Degree at Rappahannock Community College in Warsaw, VA in 2019, I took a gap year in my college studies to explore possible avenues in careers. At that point, I had three years of customer service experience through working at a local grocery store. Just months before graduating, I had gained employment in our regional library system as a customer services clerk. Upon graduation, I was also hired to be a part of a new STEM program being established in our libraries. The customer services clerk job has given me opportunity to fine-tune my customer service skills, as well as practice on virtually every Google application and several database systems. My work in the newly formed STEM program has allowed me to pursue my interests in the art of 3D printing, along with other technologies, and demonstrating them to the general public. I also have the privilege of being able to teach any eager patrons how to use the 3D printers and other technologies in one-on-one training sessions. Working with the public in both instances has driven my passion for learning the mechanics of communication while striving for a brighter future.

Future goals

The multi-faceted environment in the library has given me the opportunities to envision myself in a variety of professions. I have done the work of an administrator, customer service liaison, designer, multimedia technician, computer skills instructor, and researcher. All of these experiences have culminated into the capability to delve into any career in the communication field. By recently declaring a minor in Marketing, I intend to use the knowledge I will learn, as well as the knowledge I am learning through Communication, to dive into the world of visual merchandising. The marketing profession is an ever evolving field and I feel by treading my feet in the water with this minor, I can fully immerse myself in the field to potentially become an marketer or even a visual merchandiser.
